David,
an Augusta native and son of Cheryl Grace, owner of Pastel,
graduated with honors from the University of Georgia with a
Bachelor of Fine Arts in 1999.
In 2000 he was offered and
accepted an Artist in Residency in metal arts at the historic
Sloss Furnace site in Birmingham, Alabama, a national hub for
metal arts.
One year later, after several graduate school
scholarship offers, David accepted a scholarship from the
University of Tennessee to pursue his Masters degree in Fine
Arts.
He received his MFA in 2004 and currently lives, teaches, and makes art in Laramie Wyoming with his wife, Ashley Hope Carlisle, a sculpture professor at the
University of Wyoming.
