Pastel on Central is a gallery and
coffee shop which entices all the senses with its eclectic
collection of fine art, coffees, teas, delectables, antiques, home and
garden wares, books, music and more. The shop stocks extraordinary,
one-of-a-kind pieces and accessories that have been hand-selected.
 Pastel is the creation of
Chef Philippe Chin and Cheryl Grace.
Recognized for his culinary artistry at
The Partridge Inn and
Bambu
on Hickman, Chef Philippe Chin has always been interested in creating an
environment that excited all of the senses. Grace’s dream has been to
create a venue in Augusta to promote quality art of talented emerging
artists that is not a typical gallery space. Grace’s son, David Jones
and his wife are professional sculptors who teach and make art in
Wyoming.
Located in historic Summerville, Pastel is housed in a
commercial building that had been vacant for an extended period.
Chin and Grace completely renovated the shop to create a
contemporary visual space. Distinctive architectural elements such
as the original tin ceiling have been restored and preserved.
Artsy displays showcase merchandise as you would find it in your
own home - a sculpture resting upon an antique sideboard; framed
art hung on the walls; pottery and accessories placed throughout
the gallery. Now Augustans can find elements to create their own
unique spaces.
